In the 1970s Dr Bennett obtained a BA in Public Administration from Sheffield City Polytechnic. In the 1990s he obtained an MA in Communications and Technology and PhD in Sociology from Brunel University, England.
He currently directs the University of Leicester's distance-learning MSc in Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management. The two-year course has 200 students in over 40 countries.
